LOVIN' OUR BODIES Motivations

Hello, Ladies! Happy Monday! This week's motivational quote comes from Mr. Romance 2009 1st Runner Up, Stefan Pinto.

Stefan passes this along to you all:

"Successful people turn dreams into goals. They stop dreaming about what they would like to do, and start on how to get it done. And this takes determination, discipline, patience and perseverance."

I'm posting that on my bulletin board.

Stefan writes fitness articles for the Miami Fitness Examiner, and he sent this link to one he thought you might enjoy. http://bit.ly/4ytiRT

I recommend signing up for his newsletter too. It's packed full of great, informative stuff. And whip over to his website, www.pintofactory.com when you get a minute, the man obviously knows what he's talking about when it comes to fitness. But believe it or not, he wasn't always built better than Adonis. You can read about his personal fitness journey here: http://www.stefanpinto.com/hello/?p=1271

So how is everyone doing? Any successes or not-so-successful moments anyone wants to talk about?

For anyone just joining us, we can also keep in touch on Twitter via trending topic #lovin'ourbodies

Hi Wendi - oh WOW! Thank you so much for that wonderful Monday movational info from Mr. Romance 2009!
When it comes to my writing I feel the same way - don't talk about it, get to it. I want to be a successful writer, and continue to take the steps to get there.
But when it comes to my health - I spent a lot, and I do mean A LOT of time talking about how I was going to do this and that, but it was all talk.

Now that I've put action to it, I've got to stick with it, because I don't think I can ever be truly successful and happy at the same time if I'm not happy with myself.

I'm still walking, I've noticed my legs are getting stronger. I'm not where I was before I took that darn break from walking, but I'm slowly getting back there. As to eating, hubby did make a bit of a fattening meal for Mother's Day, but I was still good :)

Thanks, Wendi!

I'm starting to run again. I was really happy and in pretty good shape when I was running. My sister is over here, so we are going to run together.

I'm doing pretty well. Now that the weather's better, my hubbie and I are doing a massive remodel of our yard so I've been busy. As long as I keep busy, I don't eat. I've lost 5 pounds in about 2 weeks.

Ann, Allie and Jami, you're all doing great!! Thanks for checking in today.

Ann, good for you for resisting temptation and getting back into your routine. You'll be back to where you were and beyond in no time. And I agree, about being happy with yourself. Sometimes I picture myself crossing a stage to receive an award I've worked hard for. I want to look my best when that day comes or I know I'll regret it.

Allie, I'm envious. I love the way my body looks when I run. Unfortunately, I hurt my knee a few years ago, and running isn't an option for me anymore. You go girl!

Jami, I know what you mean. I lost five pounds the week I was at RT because I was too busy to snack and seemed to be in constant motion all day. Your house is already gorgeous, I can't wait to see after pictures.

I walked my usual 5 miles this morning, and I'm thinking about changing up my routine a little. I think I'd like to go to the gym a few times a week to do a little more hardcore toning. Let's keep it up, ladies! Everybody's doing great!

Now how did I know that "special guest" this morning was going to be Mr. Pinto? Thanks for getting him to comment, Wendi. He's so right, determination and discipline are crucial to turning those dreams into reality.

I got up a half hour earlier this morning as I ususally do on Mon., Wed., and Fri. and worked out for 45 min. Trying to tone the abs and tummy. Never managed to do that after having the 2 kids:(

Wendi said...

That's great, Tonya! You look great, and now I know why. :)

And yes, I love Stefan's quote. I've got a little more discipline than patience, but I'm looking to work on both of those. LOL

Hey Ladies! Stephan had some great suggestions.Gotta work on the sleep though. Think I'm not getting enough. I haven't started working out yet but I've been doing some positive things like getting the "bad stuff' out of the house. Drinking more water.

I'm actually trying to quit smoking and it's AWWWWWFULLLLLL. Yesterday...only 3. Today I'm struggling and trying to stay really busy. Now might be a good time to hit the exercize equipment. Replace a bad habit with a good one.

Wendi said...

Great attitude, Regina!! And I'm so glad you're giving up the cigarettes. My mom was a smoker and she was only 34 when she died. :(

Definitely replace that bad habit with a good one! Even if 10 or 15 minutes is all you can motivate yourself to do at first. I know you like country music. Did you know that the videos on CMT average about 4 minutes each. Think about that. The time it takes to watch 3 music videos will get you 12 minutes of exercise. Throw in one commercial break and you're up over 15. Do you have a TV near your workout equipment?

Wow,I just love all the comments & everybody is really in high gear, this really helps me alot too,it makes me want to push to exercise longer than just 5 minutes,I know that doesn't sound like alot but for now it is all I can do,plus having the flu is not helping any,but I am determined.
Wendi, thank you so much for organizing this group & for all your help & especially for sharing Mr. Romance 2009 with us.

Regina, hang in there girl. I quit smoking 2 years ago July 4. I'll be honest, it was one of the most difficult things I've ever done but it also ranks up there as one of the best I've done.

Wendi said...

Cindy, I'm proud of you for every one of those five minutes. You know your body better than anyone, and after the heart issues you've had we don't want you to push beyond what you can handle. Keep at those 5 minutes. One day they'll turn into 6, then 10, then who knows how many. We're behind you every step of the way.

I play a little game in parking lots. If I'm not going to be hauling out anything heavy and it's not raining - LOL - I don't ever take the closest spot I can get. I make myself walk a little father to get to and from my car. In the grand scheme of things it's not much, but every little bit helps. It really is all about habits and choices - two things that we have the power to change. :)

Tonya, good for you for quitting too!

Wendi, you're so sweet. You're the one who looks good. 5 miles a day? No wonder!

Would you believe a little over 2 years ago I weighed 180 pounds? I'm down to 130 now and boy I miss those Snickers bars. LOL

Wendi said...

Tonya, I had no idea!! I thought you were one of those naturally thin people that I'm sooooo envious of! You look fantastic!

And thank you. I fight off every pound I can, but they're persistent little buggers. :)

Hey everyone. Yeah, thumbs up on the comments from Stefan. He was so nice -- didn't wince or anything when I plopped down on his lap for the musical man chairs at RT. :lol

My first trip to the gym last Monday was a disaster. We'll just say too much at once, not enough food beforehand, crashed hard, and leave it at that.

However, I'm on track now. I'm scheduled to meet with my personal trainer Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I'm going to try to go to yoga two days a week, but so far I've only managed one.

I don't get home from work until after midnight and generally don't go to bed until about 3 a.m. Then I get up, put the kids on the bus and go back to bed. Or rather, I used to. Now I have to get up, eat and go to the gym. Yikes!

This morning there was a bit of excitement, since my two youngest decided to -- for once! -- play quietly in their rooms and let Mommy sleep. I woke up at 10 ... which was when I was supposed to be meeting my trainer. Ah well. I went to the gym anyway, and worked out alone for about an hour, targeting 200 calories. Phew!

This is really great reading about everyone's challenges and triumphs. This will really help me reach my own goals. Thanks, all!

Raina, it's so great that you took yourself to the gym after missing your appointment. Those are exactly the kind of days when it's really simple to throw in the towel and latch onto an easy excuse. But you didn't do that! You rock!!

I just received the 5 Mile Fat Burning DVD with Leslie Sansone. I think I typically walk a mile and a half a night. Thought I could slowly work up to 5 miles.

I'm at a bit of a disadvantageous w/ a bad knee so not sure what else I can do besides walk at this time.

I'm feeling very motivated here - thanks to everyone joining in and of course thank you very much Wendi for hosting! :)

Wendi said...

That's great, Ann! Take some good music along with you and you can work your way up to longer walks in no time.

And you're very welcome. I'm thrilled to be hosting this group. You all have me excited about pushing myself harder and it's so incredible to see all of you in action.
