LOVIN' OUR BODIES Hump Day

Hello, ladies! Wednesday is kind of a magic day if you're struggling to stay on the wagon. If you got off to a rough start at the beginning of the week, you can begin today and still end with a successful week. If you've managed to meet your goals so far this week, you can pat yourself on the back and keep cruising toward the finish line. See, it's magic!

Monday, Ann said it's been easier for her to stick to the plan she laid out for a successful career than it has been for her to dedicate the discipline required to exercise the way she wants to. She said it much more eloquently than that, but I believe that was the gist of what she said. I think that's true for a lot of us. We're pulled in so many different directions, the easiest things to let slide are the things we're doing for ourselves. But think about it, when we're happy with ourselves we're easier to be around and we have more to give to the ones we care about. Being healthy and happy isn't selfish, but sometimes we have to be a little selfish to protect the time we set aside to do that for ourselves.

Here are a couple of quotes I found, that I thought you might like:

"Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world." - Lucille Ball

"You don't get to choose how you're going to die. Or when. You can only decide how you're going to live. Now." - Joan Baez

Are you feeling good about your progress this week? Do you need us to give you a little boost?

Thanks Wendi for the mid-week motivation. Great quotes!

Yesterday I worked hard to eat right - and I wish I could say that was easy, but it wasn't, lol.

My legs are getting strong again and last night's walk felt really good.

Today I need to call my allergist and make an appointment to be tested for Celiac disease. I have a feeling this is what I've been dealing with - an intolerance to anything with gluten.

I plan to stick with good food choices again today, and definitely walk. Baby steps.

Great job, Ann! It's never easy, is it? But it's worth it. And thankfully, it does get easier once the habits are firmly established.

Good luck at the allergist's. I hope they give you some answers.

Well I didn't mention this the other day but last Thursday I decided to quit smoking. OMG!!! Hard hard hard but I'm doing it. Down to two for the last couple of days. I was worried I'd completely blow it with the FOOD STUFF though and that hasn't happened so far. I'm drinking lots of water and when I crave something (a smoke OR food) I get up and do a little chore. So far so good and I haven't killed anyone yet.

Rita, I'm so proud of you. Seriously. I know it's hard to quit smoking, but it's got to be the best thing you can do for yourself and your family.

Chores are a great distraction. Maybe I need to try that. I might actually get some stuff done around here. :)

DUH. I DID mention the smoking thing on Monday but my brain is scrambled. Has anyone heard me screaming? LOL. This is soooo hard. Yep. Staying busy, keep moving. I'm actually going to open a file and write for the first time in a few days.

Great quotes, Wendi. And congrats on continuing your stop smoking goal, Regina.

I've kept with the excercise this week but I've been a bad girl on the carbs. Since Monday I've had homemade french fries, BBQ sandwiches, hamburgers, ice cream, rice krispy treats and a Milky Way. Eek! I really have to watch myself working from home full-time. My office is right under the kitchen. That's not a good thing. LOL

Good job on the exercise, Tonya! Carbs are hard to avoid aren't they? I try to snack on nuts, cheese and deli meat. Occasionally, I have crackers, but I go for the ones with lots of whole grain or fiber. I like low-fat Triscuits, and I like Blue Diamond Natural Almond Crackers which I'm out of and about to run to the grocery store for. :)
