I promised to take you all along for the ride as my first book makes its way to publication. Today was one of those days when I just had to pinch myself. I found out a little while back that the very talented, Jinger Heaston would be designing my book cover.

I did a search to see some of the covers she's designed, and all I can say is WOW!!! Jinger is so creative. My baby is in very good hands. Today, I had the opportunity to email her, and now I'm just beside myself. Not only does she have amazing, award-winning talent, she's an absolute SWEETHEART!

I can't wait to see what she comes up with for my novel. SQUEEEE!!! This is so much more fun than I ever dreamed it would be. (Of course I haven't gotten the editor's comments back yet. :-D)

I was feeling so smug after designing my website. And then a friend of mine ... I'm not pointing any fingers, Rita ... suggested I set up a Myspace page. Ok, I'm a complete idiot. I know that Myspace is used by half the world and is probably meant to be idiot-proof. But it's not! Not for me anyway.

I've got an account and I've edited my profile. But I can't figure out how to make one of those really cool pages EVERYONE else has. Fortunately, a friend of mine ... uh hmmm, Rita ... has offered to help me.

I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays. I sent my blurbs for my upcoming book to my publisher along with information for the cover artist. YAY! I met my first deadline.


I had a wonderful morning with two of my close friends and CPs, followed by a great dinner with two of my best girlfriends. I have some of the most generous and thoughtful friends in the world. I can't believe how lucky I am. Thank you for stopping by my blog and my best wishes that all your holiday dreams come true.

My website!

Holy cow, I have a drop of tekkie in my blood, after all. Not really. I just found a company that makes it really easy to design your own website. I'll post the URL here when I have it polished a little more, but I'm really surprised how well it turned out. It could very well be the simplest site on the web, but it's not totally shabby. Now I've got to get some Christmas cards made and in the mail so they'll reach everyone by New Year's. Yeah, I'm really on top of it this year! Happy holidays, whichever one you celebrate.

Please tell me I'm not the only one scrambling to get a million things done before Tuesday. I feel like a schmuck for being so far behind.

Darlin' Day

Today, I'm trying to design my own website. This'll be fun...(I'm being unrealistically optimistic.) This will likely be the death of me, and I'll end up paying someone else to do it. So to keep my sanity, I'm taking a short break to introduce a new blog feature. We can't have eye candy everyday. We'll rot our teeth, or go blind, or something along those lines.


I've decided to have Darlin' days to pay respect to all those darlins who came before me.

Today's darlin is "Oh, my Darlin' Clementine." Bet you haven't heard that in a while. My mom used to sing that song when I was a kid, so I thought it was fitting that it should be the first darlin I honored. Now go hug your Clementine, we darlins need lotsa love.

Here we go!

I feel like a published author today! This morning my publisher ... wait, I want to say that again. This morning MY PUBLISHER sent me a questionnaire to fill out for the cover artist and an invitation to join their author and reader loops. WOW!!!

More news! My novel Cowboy Games has finaled in the Beacon Contest in the single title/long contemporary category! Woo Hoo! The winners will be announced at the Southern Lights Conference in Jacksonville, FL on March, 28 – 30, 2008.

This is my third contest final this year. I placed 3rd in the other two. If I get third place in this one, I'm going to seriously consider changing my name to Wendi "Third Place" Darlin.

WOO HOO! Hang on. We're going for a ride!

Today I was offered a publishing contract for one of my erotic romance novels!!!! I'm not at liberty to discuss details yet, but boy oh boy am I dying to spill it all. So instead of blabbing, I'm going to focus on setting this blog up and finding some eye candy to keep us all entertained while we're waiting for the book release.
